On The New Album

January 9, 2010
"I thought it would be good to go out- the shitty version-because it would break the Beatles.  It would break the myth: 'That's us with no trousers on and no glossy paint over the cover and no sort of hope'... but that didn't happen.  We ended up making Abbey Road quickly and putting out something slick to preserve the myth."

"Sgt. Pepper is called the first concept album, but it doesn't go anywhere.  All my contributions to the album have absolutely nothing to do with this idea of Sgt. Pepper and his band; but it works, because we said it worked...when you get down to it, it was nothing more than an album called Sgt. Pepper with the tracks stuck together."

On Concert Audiences

January 9, 2010
"I reckon we could send out four waxwork dummies of ourselves and that would satisfy the crowds.  Beatles are nothing to do with music anymore.  They're just bloody tribal rites."

The Apology

January 9, 2010
"I wasn't saying whatever they are saying I was saying.  I was sort of deploring the attitude towards Christianity.  I'm sorry.  I'm sorry I said it really.  I never meant it as a religious thing."
